About Frank Gilroy:

Upon graduating in Physiotherapy in Glasgow in 1985, I spent 27 years working as a Physiotherapist within the NHS gaining experience in all areas of Physiotherapy including A ± E, paediatrics and orthopaedics. I gained my Masters in Biomechanics from Strathclyde University, Glasgow in 2009.

I have previously worked with Celtic FC and currently do clinical work with the Jockey club, the Scottish football association and the Scottish rugby union. In addition to my clinical work, I am a visiting Physiotherapy lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian University and the Physiotherapy advisor to the Glasgow Sports Surgery Service (GSSS).

I have extensive experience managing patients following orthopaedic surgery, including looking after over 1100 Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) repairs in my career. Furthermore, I have written numerous physiotherapy post-op exercise protocols that are available on this website. This includes the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Reconstruction Programme which I wrote with Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon Colin Walker. I encourage patients to take responsibility for their own health and completion of their physiotherapy exercises.

I work very closely with many of the orthopaedic specialists in Glasgow and Edinburgh and see many patients who have had surgery at Ross Hall and Nuffield hospitals in Glasgow. I am registered with all insurance companies.

Currently, Frank is seeing private physiotherapy patients at our clinics in Cardonald near Paisley, and Hyndland in the West End of Glasgow.

Frank has extensive experience in Pre and Post Surgical Management with a special interest in:

  • Hip Replacement
  • Knee Replacement
  • Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction
  • Ankle and Shoulder Surgery

Frank offers appointments to both insured and non-insured patients.  Insured patients are often referred from Ross Hall and Nuffield Hospital, as well as those who he saw previously when he worked at Hampden Sports Clinic.

Frank aims to see patients 1 or 2 times and will provide advice and exercise resources that will enable them to continue their rehabilitation at home.
